Here some quick tips show you how to display disk partitions in different ways

As you know fdisk, parted, blkid and lsblk all can can be used to display partions.

fdisk

# fdisk -l /dev/sda

Disk /dev/sda: 146.8 GB, 146815733760 bytes, 286749480 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk label type: dos
Disk identifier: 0x000ea2f9

Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sda1   *        2048      514047      256000   83  Linux
/dev/sda2          514048     2562047     1024000   83  Linux
/dev/sda3         2562048     6756351     2097152   82  Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda4         6756352   286749479   139996564   8e  Linux LVM

parted

# parted /dev/sda print
Model: SEAGATE ST9146803SS (scsi)
Disk /dev/sda: 147GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: msdos
Disk Flags:

Number  Start   End     Size    Type     File system     Flags
 1      1049kB  263MB   262MB   primary  xfs             boot
 2      263MB   1312MB  1049MB  primary  xfs
 3      1312MB  3459MB  2147MB  primary  linux-swap(v1)
 4      3459MB  147GB   143GB   primary                  lvm

blkid

You can use the command blkid to show something along those lines:

# blkid -o list
device                fs_type  label   mount point     UUID
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/dev/sda1              xfs               /boot       f33b26eb-5682-46aa-a175-273103c95f4e

lsblk

lsblk show a clear picture of tree like partition info
